SUMMER 2008
Advantage Basketball Canada puts on a free clinic for Durham Elementary Private School in Oshawa.
Durham Elementary Private School raised the most funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Hoops for Heart fundraising challenge. The top five schools in the Durham region were rewarded with a free basketball clinic, compliments of Advantage Basketball Canada.
"We wanted to find a way to give back. I am so impressed with our coaches who volunteered their time to come out and get involved with these young students” said Chris Smalling, Director of Advantage Basketball Canada. “I would like to give a special acknowledgement to University of Michigan basketball player, Jevohn
Shepherd for helping out. Jevohn came in town last night, and once he heard what was taking place, he wanted to get involved. He is a ball player with great character and a big heart. I would also like to thank our other coaches who volunteered their time to help with the clinic: Dwayne Smith, Dane Smith, Taylor Johnston,
Kyle Johnson, Sean Monplaisir, Takima Keane, Stephanie Parfitt, and Cavelle Schmid”.
We encourage everyone to do their part to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Hoops for Heart campaign. Advantage Basketball Canada will continue to work with Heart and Stroke Foundation, and any other organizations that are making a positive impact in our society.
